Killybegs welcomed the MS Black Watch to Killybegs Harbour on 23rd June 2014 with 804 passengers and 330 crew on board. The MS Black Watch docked in Killybegs on previous occasions and local representatives were delighted to welcome passengers and crew on their return visit to Donegal in glorious sunshine after a hazy start.

This was the fifth cruise ship to arrive in Killybegs this summer out of an estimated eleven due to visit over the coming months. The growth in cruise visits to Killybegs is a testament to the hard work of local community groups and other representatives who strive to make their visits most enjoyable and who provide wonderful information and tours showcasing the local area.

Some passengers of the MS Black Watch visited Sliabh League and others the Folk Village in Glencolmcille. Many passengers were sourcing information on local accommodation, restaurants, pubs etc. with a definite view of returning to Killybegs for a longer visit on a future occasion.

Staff at Killybegs Information Centre were on hand to assist both passengers and crew with any requirements during the course of the day, much to the appreciation of visitors. Killybegs Information Centre look forward to welcoming the next cruise ship called the MS Prisendam on 21st July 2014 with the same enthusiasm and helpful nature.

A wonderful thank you e-mail was sent to Killybegs Information Centre following the visit of MS Black Watch and was much appreciated by staff. See below:

[testimonial name=”Tanya and Robin Garstone” gender=”none” company=”Black Watch Cruise Passengers” link=”” target=”_self”]This is a belated “Thank you” to all the very kind people who looked after us so well when we came ashore from the ‘Black Watch’ a fortnight ago – sorry it has taken so long. Being disabled, the walk into town was a little too much, and all the taxis had been taken, but you were kind enough to take us in your own cars. We met nothing but kindness and courtesy, which was so nice in today’s world, and we have brought away happy memories of our visit. Many thanks to everyone there.[/testimonial]
