Angling

Killybegs provides one of Irelands best destinations for sea angling with daily fishing trips available. Fishing on reefs yields pollack, cod, ling, coalfish, wrasse, gurnards (red, grey and tub) and conger. Tope fishing (starts in May) and Shark fishing is good from August onwards – these are mostly female sharks from 15 Kgs to about 60 Kgs on their migration down the West Coast of Ireland. This fishing lasts into October when the water temperature drops and it becomes too cold for them. Shark fishing and Tuna fishing are available from August onwards.

Rock Climbing

Muckross Head is a small peninsula about 10 km west of Killybegs and 3 km east of Kilcar

It contains a popular rock-climbing area, noted for its unusual horizontally layered structure.
The Muckross crag is quite popular because of the unusual climbing encountered there. It is a sea-cliff, situated above a partly tidal rock platform, and access is convenient. The overhanging nature of much of the rock makes climbing there quite strenuous, and yields some spectacular roof-climbing.

Sailing

Atlantic coastline makes the area around Killybegs one of the top locations for sailing.
